2027 Zi Wei Dou Shu Forecast: What the Ding Wei Year Brings
Last updated: October 9, 2026
2027 is a Ding Wei year, the Year of the Goat. Its four transformations are Tai Yin Hua Lu, Tian Tong Hua Quan, Tian Ji Hua Ke, and Ju Men Hua Ji.
In Zi Wei Dou Shu (sometimes called Purple Star Astrology), the reading for a single year is called the "flowing year." Each year's heavenly stem activates a different set of four transformations, and those land in different places on each person's chart. So the same year can mean very different things for two people. Here is the plain-English version of 2027, and how to read it on your own chart.
When Does the 2027 Ding Wei Year Start?
"Ding" is the heavenly stem (yin fire) and "Wei" is the earthly branch, whose animal is the Goat. There are two common start dates for 2027:
| Start point | Date (Taiwan time, UTC+8) | Used by |
|---|---|---|
| Lunar New Year | Saturday, February 6, 2027 | Most Zi Wei Dou Shu practice; the zodiac animal |
| Lichun (Start of Spring) | February 4, 2027, 9:46 AM | Four Pillars (Ba Zi) and the almanac |
Meet Ziwei starts the flowing year at Lunar New Year, so the Ding Wei year begins on February 6, 2027. From January 1 to February 5, 2027, you're still in the tail end of the 2026 Bing Wu year.
The Four Transformations of 2027
The four transformations (Si Hua) are the main tool for seeing where a year will feel active. Each year's stem gives four stars a transformation:
| Transformation | Star in 2027 | What it means in plain words |
|---|---|---|
| Hua Lu (Prosperity) | Tai Yin (Moon Star) | Ease, gains, gentle goodwill. Tai Yin relates to home, saving, and quiet sensitivity |
| Hua Quan (Authority) | Tian Tong (Harmony Star) | Taking charge, asking for more. The easygoing Tian Tong gets more backbone |
| Hua Ke (Reputation) | Tian Ji (Strategist Star) | Being noticed, good ideas, recognition for your thinking |
| Hua Ji (Obstruction) | Ju Men (Great Gate Star) | The area that needs extra care. Ju Men is about speech, so misunderstandings come up more easily |
The major schools agree on the Ding-year transformations. Where transformation tables differ between schools, it's in the Wu, Geng, and Ren stems, which don't apply to 2027.
Hua Ji isn't bad luck. Think of it as a warning light: wherever it lands on your chart is the part of life where it pays to slow down, explain yourself, and double-check the details.
Who Feels 2027 the Most?
All four 2027 stars (Tai Yin, Tian Tong, Tian Ji, Ju Men) come from the same corner of the chart: the gentle Tian Ji, Tai Yin, Tian Tong, Tian Liang group, plus Ju Men. That gives three broad patterns:
- Tai Yin, Tian Tong, Tian Ji, or Ju Men in your Life Palace: a transformation sits right on your main star, so the year usually feels the most personal.
- Tai Yang or Tian Liang in your Life Palace: the transformations land somewhere among your Self, Money, Career, Outer World, Partner, and Inner Life palaces, so they touch you, your work, money, or relationships directly.
- Zi Wei, Tian Fu, Wu Qu, Lian Zhen, Tian Xiang, Qi Sha, Po Jun, or Tan Lang in your Life Palace: the transformations land among your Siblings, Children, Friends, Parents, Home, and Health palaces. Change tends to start with the people around you, your home, or your energy levels, while your own position stays steady.
That's the big picture from the natal chart. Exactly which palace gets what depends on your own chart.
How to Read Your Own 2027: Three Steps
Step 1: Find your 2027 Life Palace. 2027 is a Wei year, so the palace on your chart with the earthly branch Wei becomes your Life Palace for the year. Count the twelve palaces again from there: year Siblings, year Partner, year Money, and so on. The stars in that palace describe your mood and focus for the year.
Step 2: Find Tai Yin, Tian Tong, Tian Ji, and Ju Men. See which palace each sits in on your natal chart, and which palace that becomes in the 2027 layout. Where Hua Lu, Hua Quan, and Hua Ke land, things tend to flow or get noticed. Where Ju Men Hua Ji lands, communicate more and confirm more.
Step 3: Check your current decade. The decade is your ten-year cycle, and each flowing year plays out against it. The same transformation tends to work well in a smooth decade and calls for more breathing room in a busy one.
If your Life Palace is in the Wei position, your 2027 Life Palace is your natal Life Palace, and the year can feel like a return to yourself.

Frequently Asked Questions
What year is 2027 in Zi Wei Dou Shu, and when does it start?
2027 is a Ding Wei year, the Year of the Goat. Zi Wei Dou Shu usually starts the year at Lunar New Year, February 6, 2027. Four Pillars astrology starts it at Lichun, February 4, 2027 at 9:46 AM Taiwan time. Meet Ziwei uses Lunar New Year.
What are the four transformations for 2027?
In 2027, Tai Yin takes Hua Lu (Prosperity), Tian Tong takes Hua Quan (Authority), Tian Ji takes Hua Ke (Reputation), and Ju Men takes Hua Ji (Obstruction). The major schools agree on this set; their tables only differ for the Wu, Geng, and Ren stems.
Is Ju Men Hua Ji in 2027 a bad sign?
No. Ju Men Hua Ji is a reminder that words can be misread this year, so it helps to confirm and explain more. The palace it lands in on your chart shows where to take extra care. It doesn't mean something will go wrong.
How do I find my 2027 Life Palace?
2027 is a Wei year, so the palace on your chart with the Wei branch is your 2027 Life Palace. You need your birth date and time to cast the chart. Meet Ziwei does it for free in about a minute.
How is a Zi Wei Dou Shu forecast different from a Chinese zodiac forecast?
A zodiac forecast only looks at your birth year, so everyone born that year gets the same reading. Zi Wei Dou Shu looks at your whole chart, where the year's transformations land, and which decade you're in, so two people born the same year can have very different 2027s.
